Matt Smith is set to leave Doctor Who: See the BBC’s press release from this evening.

After a lot of speculation, it’s now official: Matt will hand over the helm of the TARDIS to the Twelfth Doctor at the end of the Christmas Special 2013. It’s sad and exciting at the same time—Eleven is my Doctor, and I adore Matt as an actor, so saying goodbye to him is going to be tough. And yet, I’m already looking forward to seeing who they’ll choose as his successor, and who that Doctor is going to be. Onwards!
